The story your eight-year-old self would be proud you finally wrote.
Unearthed Pages · stories you can only dig up with some human help
We're not here to hand you more writing advice. There is plenty of that already. We're here to give your writing a rhythm, a small circle of readers, and a warm place to keep going. The writing itself is the point — publishing is optional.
If you nodded at even two of these, you're exactly who we built this for.
Whether or not publication is the goal, it's the act of writing we want to support: to make it enjoyable, to make it feel less lonely, and along the way, to help you feel a little more connected. Here are the kinds of stories people bring.
The story your eight-year-old self would be proud you finally wrote.
Your family and ancestors, captured before it's lost to time.
A parent, sibling, or friend's life, told with love from your point of view.
The story you're afraid to write, but need to get out.
The story that simply needs to be written and exist in the world.
A story that says: I am here, I matter, and my life matters.
Thirty minutes a day, three times a week, or whatever fits. Your own project, or a prompt if you need one. Submit something each week.
Matched with two others for real conversation between meetings. Small enough that everyone is heard.
Notes in the margin from your buddies and the group, on every piece you submit. Real attention, thoughtful comments.
An online group gathers to share and connect in real time. The threshold you cross when you keep showing up.
The kitchen still smelled of my grandmother's bread even after everyone had gone, and I stood there not knowing what to do with my hands.
The lines that landed, the ones worth keeping. We tell you what's already working.
Gentle edits in the margins: a phrase, a flow, a "what did you mean here?"
Genuine questions that build connection and give you something to chew on.
We are trained therapists. We are published writers*. We're just humans who believe people deserve to understand their journey through writing. What we bring isn't authority. It's attention, a steady cadence, and a promise to actually read what you write.
*Ahem. Well. We have been published on Substack, in Google reviews, Airbnb reviews, TripAdvisor, LinkedIn, and the occasional local newspaper. 😆
A gentle first taste. Long enough to build a small routine and see what the practice feels like.
Start with 5Ten is where you cross the threshold: the point where momentum stops needing willpower and starts carrying itself.
Go the distanceThe middle path. Real traction without the full commitment, with room to find your voice.
Choose 8Meet fortnightly, submit every two weeks. Writing won't be the same again after the 26 weeks, even if you miss one or two along the way. You'll see. For writers with a real project and the will to unearth it.
The pilot is capped at 10 writers, split into story-buddy groups of three. Keep a 10-week streak and there's a little something for you.
"One can find in writing a perfect focus for life. It offers challenge and delight and agony and commitment."
